With record numbers of Americans out of work, competing for fewer and fewer jobs, two essential elements become even more important for any job-seeker: Differentiation and Networking. At the same time, more and more recruiters and hiring decision-makers are using online tools to seek and select candidates.

By supplementing your regular job-hunting activities with strategic use of social media sites such as LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter, and online activities such as blogging and commenting, you can differentiate yourself, increase your networking and connections, and enable decision-makers to find you – all at little to no cost other than your time.

Workshop size is limited to just 4 people per workshop. This allows for in-depth time and attention to training and setting up your platform and strategy. You will get hands-on experience, instruction, and set-up on LinkedIn, Twitter, and blogging with Wordpress!

AT THE END OF THIS WORKSHOP, YOU WILL HAVE:

• A personal brand identity that differentiates you from others. This may be as simple as your own name, or a "brand" name that identifies your area of expertise. Plus, you will benefit from the input and immediate feedback of your Trainer and the other workshop participants on the creation or redefinition of your personal brand.

• A personal brand site that includes an easy-to-update blog based on Wordpress, one of the most popular social media platforms. The site is free and there are no maintenance costs.

• A LinkedIn profile, optimized to reflect your experience and new personal brand, and linked to your new personal brand site, enabling viewers of your LinkedIn profile to jump to your new personal brand site and read your blog. LinkedIn profiles are free and there are no maintenance costs.

• A Twitter account, with customized page, linked to your new personal brand site, which will help draw more visitors. Twitter accounts are free and there are no maintenance costs.

• The Top 50 Twitter "Jobs" List - fifty people and accounts to immediately "follow" on Twitter, to help you locate available jobs. All free.
  

• A Social Media Strategy Action Plan to take home with you that details how to maintain your online presence and to use it to increase your network, supplement your job-hunting activities, and effectively manage the time you spend online. Included at no extra cost.

This workshop is offered as a public service by Really Simple Social Media at no cost to unemployed individuals. To attend, you must be currently unemployed or working in a job that you have taken to hold you over financially while you look for your career employment.
